New Moon in Taurus Chart
The Soul Activated by Spirit
On Wednesday, May 12th, at 4:28am, the Sun and moon meet at 21° Taurus, & create a powerful reset point, typical of each new moon. In the sign and energy of Taurus, we can be confident it will deal with our sense of worth, pleasure, values and the things we show up for in life. This new moon, both luminaries make a harmonious sextile to Neptune, planet of Spirit, positioning us to use our creative and intuitive gifts for spirituality and bringing higher ideals into form (Taurus). With this New moon also conjunct Black Moon Lilith, we can be sure that something of our primal and instinctual feminine energy will be catalyzing this process (think mama bear energy).
Add this with a supportive trine to Pluto, and we have the power of the soul being expressed through the personality, with leadership, possibly being intense, direct, & enjoying the challenges of working with and understanding what motivates other people. With this new moon also sextile Pallas Athena, Goddess of strategy and ingenuity, this is a great time for formulating plans for future success, based on the wisdom of experience.
Mercury the Messenger and Mending of Minds
Mercury, planet of thinking and speaking, is conjunct the north node of our collective destiny, both in Gemini, indicating an urge to develop communication skills and our teaching abilities. Venus, planet of Love, is also here in the mix, calling us forward toward more social harmony in our speech, with a trine to Saturn in Aquarius, bringing us a good sense of timing. This helps us to know when to be still or when to act, and also to let go of the past to move forward with greater ease, particularly in the area of our relationships.
There’s supportive, good news for these new dynamics with Mercury sextile Chiron, our Healer energy, and the ability to be soothing and caring through our words is heightened at this time. Although, with Venus creating a tense aspect through its square with possibly excessive Jupiter, caution is warranted to avoid any self-absorbed tendencies to cut and run when fun runs out through challenges arising. If we can, true nurturance is our reward (Venus semi-sextile Ceres, Aka Demeter, Goddess of harvest).
Mars and Our Drive for Helping and Healing
Mars in Cancer, sextile Uranus in Taurus, calls us toward fuller enjoyment for being able to express our big-energy ideas on how to improve our home and planet. However, with Mars square Chiron, tension between solving others’ conflicts and overextending healing for others at our own expense may be indicated, and can be reconciled by building our self esteem and balancing it with the esteem of others.
Mars is also quincunx Saturn, giving us a desire to help others, but this is best tempered with clearly communicated, reasonable expectations of what people can expect from us. With Neptune square the asteroid of intimacy, Juno, currently retrograde, making sure to help others who help themselves is a key feature to doing this well, as we overcome patterns from the past that may challenge this healthier, expanded version of our humanitarianism.
New Aspects Ahead
Thurs May 13th, at 6:36pm, Jupiter enters Pisces, increasing our sensitivity and sense of connection to the spiritual realms of existence. On Friday, May 14th, at 8:15 pm, Mercury enters its shadow @ 16° 7′ Gemini. Pay attention to what comes up in your experience at this time regarding communications as it will set the tone for the next several weeks, including eclipse season, until Mercury leaves its shadow in July. On May 23rd, at 5:19am Saturn turns retrograde, giving us the opportunity to review, revisit and revise any of the new structures and support systems we have created or relied on for the past several months.

Stillness in the Storm Editor: Why did we post this?
Astrology is an ancient form of psychology coupled with theology, based on the assumption that your life path and personality is influenced by the positions of the stars. In modern times, this ancient school of thought has come under much scrutiny, and rightfully so, given it has been the bastion of charlatans and scam artists. But there appears to be something real at work. Epistemologically, if a body of claimed knowledge provides predicting power, if it’s useful and pragmatic, then it suggests there’s some truth to it. Astrology is also a taxonomy—an arbitrary system of organizing phenomena for ease of use and comprehension in human life. The preceding article discusses astrology, providing food for thought about subtle influences. This information is helpful to contemplate because it is a topic of subtle and holistic connections, which is a topic close to the concept of the Creator and a creation made for a purpose. Additionally, because astrology is difficult to prove objectively, yet provides valid objective descriptions of reality, it is an excellent subject to study to expand one’s thinking and exercises holistic philosophy skills. With the ability to recognize subtle interconnected realities, one has the power to gain much wisdom and even approach Creator-consciousness if one maintains an open mind and a critical discerning eye.
