(Stillness in the Storm Editor) The newly elected prime minister of the UK, Boris Johnson, delivered a dire warning against the loss of personal sovereignty in the face of big tech and progressive’s push for technocratic societies.
While it isn’t clear as of yet who or what Johnson represents, his words resonate with many who recognize the threat of totalitarianism, as facilitated by modern technology.

It appears society is not becoming freer, it is becoming more draconian as a result of technology.
The individual and their rights are the foundation of any society. When an individual loses the capacity to express their rights freely, because of systems of control that limit cooperation, a society is becoming more authoritarian in nature.
For instance, today, credit scores, social credit scores, social media posts, and even media consumption habits, are playing a role in determining your status in society. China is openly penalizing citizens for civil dissension, through social credit scores. If you hold opinions that the state doesn’t agree with, your freedoms are limited. This is not the marker of a free society, it is the indication of a society that parasitically demands compliance from citizens, and gives them barely anything in return.
At the very least Johnson’s speech gives voice to concerns many hold, thereby providing an officially sanctioned point of discussion. This will help the people come to terms with these threats and, ideally, help them unite to defend all from the totalitarianism.
Possibly Johnson, who was not wanted as prime minister by the Deep State, according to some commentators, might be part of the alleged alliance.
That said, his statements on vaccines raise concerns. But in these times, I would argue, looking for perfect representatives is a lost cause. Instead, we would probably be better off working to unite and muster the power of the people, while using statements like Johnson’s as points of fact to persuade others.
As always, we would do well to keep an open yet discerning mind.
