House Dems Issue Demands to Cable TV & Big Tech Giants to Censor Political Dissent

(Kyle Becker) The House Democrats have issued a demand to big tech giants to step up their suppression and censorship of information that does not conform to their preferred narratives.

“In advance of the Wednesday hearing, called ‘Fanning the Flames: Disinformation and Extremism in the Media,’ members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee sent a letter on Monday to Comcast, AT&T, Spectrum, Dish, Verizon, Cox and Altice, asking about their role in ‘the spread of dangerous misinformation,’” the New York Times noted.

“The committee members also sent the letter to Roku, Amazon, Apple, Google and Hulu, digital companies that distribute cable programming,” the report continued.

The Times reporter named names.

“SCOOP: Congressional Dems sent a letter to Comcast, Amazon, Google, ATT & others, demanding to know what they plan to do about the ‘the spread of dangerous misinformation’ from Fox News, OAN and Newsmax – including whether they will continue to carry them,” the Times’ Rachel Abrams reported.

“Are you planning to continue carrying Fox News, OANN and Newsmax on your platform both now and beyond the renewal date?” the letter asks. “If so, why?”

Fox News responded to the outrageous demands.

“For individual members of Congress to highlight political speech they do not like and demand cable distributors engage in viewpoint discrimination sets a terrible precedent,” the network said in a statement. Newsmax blasted the letter was an “attack on free speech.”

What constitutes “dangerous” information is entirely subjective. When the Democratic Party made any number of provocative statements in the heat of riots that caused billions of dollars in damages and killed at least nine people, there were no calls to censor their speech.

When the Democratic Party and the liberal media undermined the legitimacy of our democratic institutions by pushing the debunked Trump-Russia collusion conspiracy, no one censored their speech.

When Democrats objected to Donald Trump’s election at the January 6th, 2017 Electoral College, no one censored their speech. Even when there were devastating riots in the Capitol on January 20th and the entire media and the Democratic Party threw their support of the #Resistance protesters, no one censored their speech.

The Democrats’ threats made towards cable news giants and big tech companies to censor their political enemies, or else, is a transparent ploy to maneuver around the constitutional protections afforded to Americans, such as freedom of speech and freedom of the press. It is an effort to “fortify” the Democrats’ political position and to ensure its control over what effectively will become a one-party totalitarian state.

The Democratic Party and its media and big tech allies have used the January 6th capitol uprising as a pretext to censor political dissidents, such as any number of the tens of millions of Americans who have questions about whether or not their election was “free and fair.”

Now, it appears that not only will America’s election not be “free and fair,” neither will its press. People need to stand against this actual interference in U.S. elections, which threatens to undermine our democratic processes.
