A freedom story from Hedi, Washington, U.S.
After speaking with my Account Manager briefly about the foreclosure and lending fraud, I sent a CN to a private student loan servicer on 4/25/13.
I sought to inform and educate, as well as stop collection action against me in regard to my purported obligation to ‘repay’ my ex spouse’s so-called student ‘loan’, on which I was a co-signer. This CN was sent via fax.
I had been paying on the defaulted student loan of my ex-spouse as I was a co-signer. Upon hearing of the work of OPPT and following the development for several months, I gained the confidence to confront the institution and sent a courtesy notice in April. I had been receiving calls multiple times daily from their collections dept, and once the notice was received, those calls ceased. I logged in to check the account status online a week or so later, and found that two mysterious ‘payments’ equalling around $1100.00 had been applied to the account on 4/29,
bringing it current. The “next payment due” date showed Jan. 2014, so I presumed they had put it into a forbearance of some sort.
I would just encourage each person to spend the time researching the issues a bit, and gaining a familiarity with what has transpired with the work of the OPPT and TOP, including using the tools at our disposal. Empower yourself to stand in your truth, because you may be pleasantly surprised, as I am, to find the ease of remedy at your fingertips!
